The Chinese Tang Period was 618 to 907 AD.
Considered as the Golden Age in Chinese history, the Tang Dynasty spanned nearly 300 years from the early 7th to 10th Century.
Tang was well known for it's Sancai polychrome pottery. Sancai refers to three colors: namely yellow, green and brown.
This vintage figure displays these colors perfectly.
Early Tang figures were always stiff in form.
Stylistically this Tang Pottery figure on horse is an excellent example of the period, and typical of a Tang Horse. Similar pieces can be found in the world's museums for their unsurpassed level of artwork and detail.
Each piece in the Orient Expressed Curated Collection is unique.
