What is an Orient Expressed Home Show?
Twice a year, nationally known Orient Expressed, designers of exclusive hand-smocked and monogrammed children's clothing, offers extensions of its flagship retail store in New Orleans to over 250 other U.S. cities. These spring and fall trunk shows, hosted by local representatives, are called Home Shows, as samples of the collections are shown in the representatives' homes. The collections include traditional smocked clothing as well as knits, linens, and children's sweaters, plus Easter designs in the spring and holiday designs in the fall. The cost of the clothing ranges from $25 to $68.
What Does a Home Show Representative Do?
Being a successful representative requires the development of a good address list. In addition to family and friends, representatives should include names from their own churches, schools, playgroups, and civic organizations. An address base of at least 100 to 150 names is recommended. A sample set of the collection, invitations, and catalogues are provided by OE. Non-reimbursed expenses include postage for invitations sent to customers and the return UPS expense of the sample sets. Compensation is based on completed sales.
